From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this
1918 Original ESCAPED CHILD RAPIST WANTED POSTER for Arthmus Allen who escaped from the Iowa State Penitentiary and had a Reward for his arrest.
He was sentenced to six years for the “crime of Rape and Lewd and Lacivious Acts With a Child.” Measuring approximately 5 1/2” x 5” this is in excellent condition with no defects that I note.
I have recently purchased an extraordinary book of over 100 wanted posters spanning the years from 1917/1919. So far, I don't have a clue as to where the book came from but perhaps it was part of an early agency which might have been on the lookout for wanted men and their rewards.
